Every Tuesday our third and fourth graders get to participate in a culture club where they learn about a certain aspect of Japanese culture. Joanna has flower arranging and I did kendo a few years ago. This year I have tea ceremony and one of the things I like about it is we get green tea every week and a treat of some sort. This week, because of Halloween, our treat was shaped like a jack-o-lantern. It had sweet bean paste in the middle but it was perfect before I got the bitter green tea. I couldn't figure out what the stem was until I ate it and realized it was a seed.
