House Guest

Joanna called me from the other room and this little guy was stuck between the window and screen. The window was open for awhile but we closed it because of the rain and wind from the approaching typhoon. I opened the window back up and he crawled down but I didn't see him leave. I finally closed the window and sure enough, later in the evening he was back on the screen. Oh, and we are on the sixth floor so it is quite impressive that he is scaling the wall that high!

Saturday Afternoon

We decided to do some underwear shopping today and then we thought...what the heck...let's go have a beer at our new favorite place which is only ten minutes away. They just got their license to start brewing at their own site so we had to go and celebrate. Repubrew!

Alex is coming to visit in an few weeks and we can't wait! It will be great to see him again!

Typhoon (Hurricane) Talim

Well, it looks like Typhoon Talim is coming to ruin our 3-day weekend. It is supposed to reach our area Sunday and will pass by us as a Category 1. Looks like we will have to batten down the hatches.

Shiso (Beefsteak leaf)

Poor shiso ( beefsteak leaf) in my class after the summer.  We ended up throwing the plants away today after finding caterpillars and insects crawling on the leaves.

Before summer, each student was able to take a leaf home and enjoy it.   Some said they wrapped it in a rice and seaweed wrap or deep fried it like tempura.  Some put on the leaf on rice with a raw egg and one ate it just like it was.  Growing sponge gourds and then baby leaves (a type of lettuce)  and shiso has been a joy this year!

I am now looking for an affordable pet we can take care of :)  Any ideas?

Say What?

Halloween was never a big thing here in Japan but the last few years it has been growing in popularity. There isn't really any Trick or Treating but the stores now are stocking costumes and decorations and candy (no candy corn 😑 and the candy is not what we are used to back home). It is still nice to see Halloween things and we can buy decorations for our classroom.

Say what? Not sure about this and it is kind of early but what the heck...let's give it a try!

Beautiful Evening

It was such a beautiful evening even though it feels like it is a billion degrees out. Can't wait for this heat to end!

Mt. Fuji is so beautiful. Can't wait to see snow on top.
